Research and Evidence
The purpose of research is to provide new information and contribute to the existing evidence, while the purpose of evidence-based practice is to analyze available data to solve a therapeutic problem (Fitzpatrick, 2016). Evidence-based practice involves making clinical decisions based on relevant research findings and critical thinking. The purpose of conducting research is to gain a new understanding of the origin, nature, or etiology of a problem. “Nursing research is defined as the systematic and objective process designed to generate evidence about issues of importance to the nursing profession, including nursing practice, education, administration, and informatics” (Kawar et al., 2023).
