In this way, international trade allows developing countries, through small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), to redistribute income thus reducing income inequality and consequently national poverty levels. In spite of the fact that cross border trade increases the gross domestic product of developing countries thus increasing per capita income, developing countries trade raw materials which they eventually import back as finished goods at extremely high prices.
