Grants are non-payable products or funds which given by the grant maker to a recipient, the grantee, to carry out a specific plan or project. For the grantee to be awarded a grant, they must write an application or a proposal to the corporation, agency, organization or foundation offering the grant. In the United States, there are different types of grants, and they each serve different purposes and have their advantages and disadvantage.
Block grant is the first and has been part of the United States federal system since 1966. The Federal government uses it to provide both local and state governments funding to assist them in addressing broad processes such as community development, social services and public health.
