My motivational theory of choice for this week’s discussion is the David McClelland’s Three Needs Theory. This theory suggest that people have 3 basic needs: the need for power, achievement, or affiliation. The need for power is when an individual is motivated by having a control or being in a position of power. The need for achievement is when an individual is motivated by success or achieving objectives. Lastly, the need for affiliation is when an individual seeks out social interaction and commonly work well with others (Vaughan,2020) (Vaughan, 2020). This help can help with finding people’s motivating drivers which can help people succeed in their goals. This theory could be effectively used as a coach or a consultant because once the individual motivators have been identifying it can help to set goals based on motivations.
