Question 1
Poverty is defined differently; the course describes poverty as the situation when people have insufficient funds to satisfy their basic needs like food, clothing and shelter (Justino, 2010). Many other situations facing human comfort in a certain society can also be part of poverty even without any form of money involved. Some of them include battling with sickness and unable to seek proper medical care maybe because it is unavailable or lack of money to pay for the services. The inability to read or write due to limited access to school is also another aspect. The lack of unemployment which forces people to live one day at a time with the fear for the future is also poverty (Justino, 2010). The World Bank Organization explains that the state of poverty calls for action as many people are working on a daily to escape the situation.
