Read Dr. Ibeji’s comparison between Ancient Rome and the U.S. (all the way down to the ‘Find Out More’). From what you learned about Rome in your textbook reading, do you agree with Dr. Ibeji’s comparison? Why or why not?
In this assignment, please tackle each part of his five-part argument: ‘An imperialist culture?’, Creation myths’, ‘Tyranny and war’, ‘Just causes’, and ‘Sudden superpowers.’ I will be looking that you have evaluated each, even if it’s just a sentence on one part. You may find that you have a mixed reaction, where you agree with one part but disagree with another- that’s ok! Just make sure and explain why you agree or disagree with his conclusions.
