Francisco Franco, the former Spain dictator who attained power during the Spanish civil war in the late 1930s, died in 1975 after multiple heart attacks. He built the Valley of the Fallen, a burial monument for soldiers who had perished during the civil war, (Borelli, 2018). Franco himself was buried in the monument. Those that opposed his way of the ruling were also buried there, though in anonymity.
