Summary of the video
Thomas Donalson questions whether it is moral to have faith in something even when there is no evidence that it exists. He had a good debate on that subject, between philosophers William James and William Clifford. William Clifford claimed that it’s not right to believe something without evidence while William James was against the claim stating that it’s right. Clifford on his essay ethic of belief narrates that as a guy goes on ship convinces himself that the ship is set to go as the ship departs it sinks, Clifford claims that it’s the boy’s fault for the tragedy that was not justified he states that it is not right to believe in something without good evidence hence applies this to the case of religious belief.
