In this situation the god Hercules to me is of the least interest to the book since the primary purpose for Herodotus to write the book was to try and explain the origin of the Greco-Persian wars. The book mainly contained the geographical locations, ancient traditions, the politics that existed and the clashes that emerged between the various cultures that lived during that particular period. Culture included their different way of life.
