Identify a theory or theoretical perspective that offers insight
Identify a theory or theoretical perspective that offers insight or explanation regarding your chosen issue or topic that you created in Week 2. (See the Week 2 folder, Critical Thinking Assignment for more information.)
Apply the selected theory/theoretical perspective and conduct literature-based research on both your topic and on the results of your informational interview that you completed in Week 5. Incorporate into your final paper five to seven scholarly sources that have been published within the past five years and that are not assigned readings in this course. (You may use the sources you generated during the Week 3 Critical Thinking Assignment. See the Week 3 folder, Critical Thinking Assignment, for more information.) The CSU-Global Library is a good place to find your sources, which should represent diverse authors and reflect current issues in the human services field.
In a ten- to fifteen-page paper (not counting the cover page, table of contents, and reference page, which you must include) present the results of your literature-based research and informational interview and offer conclusions. Explain how the issue and theory play out in practice and how your research and analysis will help you make decisions about your future in the human services field.
The final Research Project/ Portfolio assignment draws together learning from the B.S. in Human Services program and applies that learning to a practice situation. Throughout this course you have been working on the following components of this research project:
Week 2: Critical Thinking Assignment, worth 50 points. Submit a research project topic.
Week 3: Critical Thinking Assignment, worth 75 points. Draft and submit a brief proposal for your final research project paper.
Week 4: Critical Thinking Assignment, worth 75 points. Create an interview plan to use in Week 5.
Week 5: Critical Thinking Assignment, worth 75 points. Conduct an interview using the plan created in Week 4 and report the results.
Now it is time to bring all the pieces together in a final, comprehensive research paper.
Your paper must include the following sections:
Cover page
Table of contents
An introduction that describes the paper and its intent and includes your research question
A literature review of at least five journal articles and/or books that pertain to your chosen topic
A review and discussion of the field research you conducted
An analysis section that applies the literature you reviewed to what you observed in practice through the interview you conducted
A conclusions section that draws the work together and discusses the application of theory to practice
Reference page.
Your final Portfolio research project paper is due before midnight on Sunday of Week 8. Your paper must be formatted according to the CSU-Global Guide to Writing and APA Requirements.
10-15 pages…
You have all the papers already.
it’s not like you have to do a lot. You already have all the papers, you just need to combine them and add a few to it.
