classmate response ( After watching the Did You Know video in the ARTmap, I came to the conclusion that I agree with the value scholars place on ancient cataclysmic events. Unfortunately, natural disasters create great amounts of tragedy and damage, but they are an unavoidable part of history. At least there is beauty, history, artworks, and architectures preserved because of events such as the Theran Eruption; this gives humans the opportunity to have a unique look into the past because the eruption helped preserve them. I believe it is paramount that scholars and historians place an emphasis on the importance of the pieces preserved by these tragedies because of the weight they carry. )
