This is a 2 part question.
Part 1 200 words
In this section of Between the World and Me, Coates talks about Paris — an unexpected twist in a book about race relations in America! First his wife takes a trip there, and he cannot understand why. She photographs doors, and he does not seem to relate to this interest of hers. Eventually, it comes out that he is afraid of going to Paris (there’s that fear again), but then he does go, and he is amazed at how much he loves it.
Why do you think Coates included these descriptions of Paris and what he did there in his letter to his son? What did he find there that changed him, and how did it impact his outlook on the world? And what does he mean when he writes about the possibilities of buying the wrong train ticket and being OK with that because, as he says, “I was always translating”? (122) Please use specific instances from any part of the book you’ve read up until this point to support your answer.
Part 2 only has to be 3 sentences
This blog should be relatively easy for you today, but I thought it would clarify one element of “thinking” within argumentative, research based writing and not bog you down while you are in the midst of the paper: Using “Our Universities. . .,” write three sentences that reference this article. One sentence should agree, one sentence should disagree, and one sentence should both agree and disagree. Each sentence should reference the article — whether by quote, paraphrase or direct reference.

Part 1
I think Coates included the descriptions of Paris and what he did there in his letter to his son since it could help demystify the fears that black people have when they are venturing into the world. Such fear is created through perceptions and notions that the world is not a peaceful place for black people.
