Introduction

During World War II, Adolf Hitler led perpetrators known as the Nazis in an attempt to eliminate Jews in Europe by killing them. Six million Jews were murdered by the Nazi, 1.5 million being children. This is the period known as the Holocaust. The Nazi came into power and thought of the Jews as inferior. Adolf Hitler considered the Jews a threat to the superior German racial community (Wieland-Burston, 2012). The Holocaust is considered the worst period of human dehumanization in the history of Europe.

My discussion will identify how ‘The Pianist’ film historically represents the Holocaust.  I chose the Pianist because it has a direct connection to the Holocaust massacre. The film portrays the story of Władysław Szpilman, a Holocaust survivor.
