Mergers refer to an agreement between two corporations or organizations and which unites them into a new organization (Starkweather, 1981). Mergers are done to expand the reach of an organization, grow into new segments or even earn or gain a share in the market.
In the two hospital mergers, the one between the Scottish Rite Children’s Medical Center and Egleston Children’s Health Care System is successful while the merger between two hospitals that were rivals was less successful.
