In the Allegory of the cave, Socrates seeks to help Glaucon understand that human beings mostly accept their own arrogance because they know nothing else hence they think and believe this to be the truth. In explaining this, he uses imagery as he explains a scenario of prisoners in the case. These prisoners are chained in a way that they cannot move or turn their heads and are placed facing the wall in a cave. At the end of the cave, there is a light source that allows everything that passes there to cast shadows.
