Disasters are part of the everyday life as they are unexpected activities which might be the cause of nature, terrorism, industrial accidents and other occurrences. The US government has therefore put some strategies to deal with these events whenever they happen. Some of the disasters in the past have portrayed how the US public health sector prepares and deals with disaster affecting the people. On August 2005, the US experienced one of the most horrible loses in the hurricane Katrina affecting the New Orleans in Louisiana (WHO, 2005). The hurricane was signified by storms with wind speed of over 200km/hr. Almost 80% of the city was submerged in the water and led to maximum damages. The US health department conducted a quick response to the issue and offered a solution by first declaring it as a public health disaster.
