The situation involves the 16-year old Ashton who according to his mother is wrongly accused and held in a juvenile cell for allegedly making a bomb threat from his bedroom on the 15th of February. Ironically, Ashton’s bedroom portrays an impression of absolute patriotism, with images of the American flag all over the walls and the floor. This essay will evaluate the dynamics in the case of Ashton versus the state on allegations of terrorist threats.
The U.S. Patriot Act was passed by an overwhelmingly large number of Congress members as well as the House as a law to enable the country to improve its counter terrorism measures, following the attacks on the night of the 11th of September 2001 (Department of Justice, 2018).
