According to the Interaction Design Foundation, the use of interviews is one of the easiest ways to gather information about a particular product from consumers. However, the primary takeaway from the reading is the possibility of gathering information that could end up being irrelevant in the issue discussed, largely due to the possibility that the information is based on what the consumers would do and not what they actually do. For instance, a company could be out seeking information about the potential impact of a certain improvement in their product on consumer preferences.
