Classmate’s response ( The ordinance banning bird feeding in Venice reflects today’s views on art preservation. Today, more than ever, the care and science behind the preservation of works of art is emphasized to ensure we can enjoy and sustain these impactful pieces. The ban on bird feeding proves that sometimes interesting methods can be put to use in order to actively protect works of art. I believe that in modern times there is an increasing emphasis on saving and keeping works of art in the best shape possible because we, as a society, recognize the immense impact they have and want to increase the longevity of their legacy. )

The ban on public feeding of the holy pigeons at s.t mark’s squire in Italian was placed in 2008. This was due to the increasing populations of the pigeons in the city, these birds were causing a lot of destructions to the historical monuments and the historic buildings in the city. These historic buildings included the mosaics and the facades of s.t Marks’s Basilica.
