Introduction

            The Pequot War had a significant impact on the Native American communities despite its short duration. The war pitied the Puritan English settlers against the Pequot Indian community, which was fighting to protect their land. When the Puritans arrived in America from England, they confiscated land in the Connecticut Valley, which belonged to the Pequot Indian community. The Pequot did not accept the annexation of their lands by the European settlers; hence, they went to war against several armies including the Narragansetts Indians, Connecticut, and Massachusetts soldiers. Consequently, the Pequot lost the war and most of them were either killed or sold into slavery.
