The NOVA film, Ape Genius documents the surprising high level of intelligence, creativity, and problem-solving cognitive capabilities that all apes have, but the film also emphasizes that nonhuman primates are not as technologically advanced as humans are. What then, is the essential difference between us and them? How has new evidence on nonhuman primate behavior changed our interpretations on not only ape intelligence but also on what it means to be human?
