Pressure ulcers, also known as bed sores, are mainly skin injuries that affects people who spent most of their time in the same position due to the inability to easily move around. The most vulnerable population to this disease as the people who have been confined to the same position due to illness, frailty, old age or paralysis. The bedsores occur as a result of prolonged pressure on the tissues underlying the skin and can be fatal if not treated early (Reddy, Gill, & Rochon, 2006). The skin covering bony areas of the body including heels, hips, ankles and tailbone are affected most as that is where the pressure starts. People on wheel chairs or in bed for most of their time are affected by pressure ulcers as their bodies are usually in a constant posture (Mayo Clinic, 2018). They tend to get the injuries in the areas that get the most compression depending on their positions.
