1.What are the shortcomings of WEP security?

WEP is an old algorithm which is used for encrypting so that it secures data that is transmitted using wireless networks. There are several shortcomings which have been identified that allow any intruder who is using certain software to easily access and crack the WEP key within a very short time. This is possible because WEP encryption uses one key for authentication and that same key is sent with data in the same package to all wireless networks. This means that if someone takes more time and he or she is able to collect enough data, he or she will be in a position to piece out their own unique key hence hacking the original key. The second advantage is when there is need to change the original master key.
