A report about the research question.
1. In the report I will be looking for the following:
What is the research question? ( Note: a topic is not a research question. For example, “income inequality” is not a research question – that’s a topic).
What has been some work done on this research question? What were the methods of the research/what were the results?
Critical analysis: what did the researchers do well? what are some potential weaknesses? what are some other mechanisms that the research did not explore? what are some policy implications? I will be grading you on how well you can think critically and analytically. It is better to carefully discuss one or two of the above points than to write down many points with no grounding in economic theory. When you construct your own arguments feel free to bring in results from the work of others to support your points, but please cite.
2. Grammar/spelling will not be graded so long as it does not interfere with the clarity of the report. You will however be graded on whether you can summarize research succinctly and logically. So it is important to write well.
3. Define relevant concepts.
4. If you include tables/graphs (which you should), you have to explain them and make sure they are labeled clearly.
5. Bibliography does not have to be in a particular style. Key information needs to be there: date, journal, authors, title. Please don’t give me a reason to scrutinize your bibliography (i.e. don’t make me suspect that you have copied text).
Requirements: 3-4 pages double-spaced ,font size 12
