Question
Locate and select an article from the CSU Online Library that discusses the conflicts between the U.S. military and Native Americans after the Civil War. The databases America: History and Life with Full Text and JSTOR are two good places to begin your research.
After selecting and reading your chosen article, write an article critique. In your assignment, you will be examining both the content and the purpose of the article. Be sure to address the following components in your article critique:
Introduction:
Who is the author, and what are their credentials? Why did they write the article?
Mention the central themes of the article and the arguments and claims of the author. You also need to state the author’s thesis.
Body:
What major figure(s) were covered in the article, and why were these figures significant?
What military needs were present in the post-Civil War era?
What was the social climate of this time period? What was the attitude of the soldiers coming out of the war?
Discuss the positive aspects of the article. Think about what the author does well, good points that he or she makes, and insightful observations
Conclusion:
Discuss the meaning or implications of the article’s contents as well as any flaws you find in the article.
Summarize the main points of the article along with your opinions about its significance, accuracy, and clarity. If relevant, also comment on implications for further research or discussion in the field.
Your article critique must be at least two pages in length, not counting title and reference pages. Additional sources are not required but may be used if needed to supplement your chosen article. Adhere to APA Style when constructing this assignment, including a title page and in-text citations and references for all sources that are used.
