1. How do antigens function?

Antigens stimulate the immune system once they enter into our body, to produce antibodies. The antibodies get attach to the antigen and deactivate it. All cells have antigens on their cell membranes and the major histocompatibility complex shows which cells belong to our body and which do not. If a cell displays foreign antigens (pathogens), such as the bacteria, viruses, fungus parasites or even cancerous cells which lead to infection and disease antibodies will be produced to fight against them.
