In “My Brother Slaves” the author reflects the life of enslaved men. The slaves are portrayed as being jovial and full of happiness. However, it is interesting that their happiness results from consumption illegally acquired alcohol. One theme that the author emphasizes is male dominance. The enslaved men use the alcohol drinking party to show off their masculinity. It appears that women are not supposed to drink.
