Environmental damage in contemporary society has been a significant issue of discussion, particularly due to the extent of the consequences of the adversities to human life caused by the catastrophes. Changes in climate patterns and rise in water levels are some of the most conspicuous impacts of environmental changes that have shaped the debate over the need for conservation measures. However, the primary impediment that significantly affects the chances of cooperation across governments into taking action to stop climate change are the economic costs of any effort to reduce the carbon footprint of any country, owing to the high economic costs the countries would incur from any possible changes (Lehmann 447).
