Company Overview
USPS, also referred to as the United States Postal Service is an independent agency within the federal government. It is responsible of providing postal services for people and organizations across the country. It is one of the few institutions in the country that is explicitly authorized by the Constitution of the United States. The institution can trace back its roots to 1775 when Benjamin Franklin was appointed as the postmaster general for the institution. It was during the Second Continental Congress. During his operations, he created the first Post Office Department in 1792. The institution was transformed into an independent agency in 1971.
