Question
For this essay, you will write a 500-word paper (minimum) page that compares the elements of the flood as told by Utnapishtim to the version in Genesis. Remember that we are reading Genesis as literature, and not for “the truth,” so that your discussion should focus on literary differences and not ethical or religious ones.
Overarching prompt: What do the differences or similarities tell you about the cultures from which these readings originated? What do they seem to value? To what did the cultures attribute the flood? What happened afterward (this may be beyond the text).
This should be written in MLA format using academic language. Proofread your paper before submitting it. Cite your source(s) when you quote. This paper should be mostly your own work, so limit your citations to one or two short quotes. Short quotes should not be more than a line or two of your text. Secondary sources are not required but must be cited according to MLA if included. Please review Citing an Anthology for proper MLA citations pertaining to both primary and secondary sources.
Requirements: 500 words or more
