Cul De Sac Analysis
Psychological, social, and economic factors make up the nature and nature dichotomy, with the potential to influence an individual’s behavior. The nature versus nature perspective is often applicable in the study of child development, but this does not imply that the theory would not be applicable in the case of adults. The environment plays a critical role in determining one’s response to various cues, and could determine the relationships with others or influence the person into engaging in activities that the rest of society could consider relatively irrational. Considering the case of Shawn Nelson, who earned national fame for stealing a tank and driving it on the streets leaving property and vehicles damaged, his experience with loss of employment, the struggle to remain in the middle class, and his use of methamphetamine led him to engage in activities that majority of society would consider irrational.
