WRITING PROJECT 8

NEWS RELEASE DRAFT #2 (70 POINTS)

Due 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7

INSTRUCTIONS:

Park Ranger Public Relations has been hired by Homer Simpson to promote a new extreme sport known as “Iron Cross.” Simpson is CEO of a company called Radical Sports Unlimited. Your job is to develop public relations materials to support his initiative.

In Writing Project 1, we developed a blog post to begin raising awareness of Iron Cross. In Writing Project 2, we informed Traverse City, Michigan, opinion leaders that Simpson plans to stage the first race there. In Writing Project 3, we started to flex our PR writing muscles by writing a draft of a release that included everything except for quotes. In Writing Project 4, we focused on quotes. In Writing Project 6, we learned that we needed to draft a quote for an additional person.

In Writing Project 8, we will pull it all together.

RSU stages the new Extreme Sport in Traverse City, Michigan

The advancement of extreme sports has seen Radical Sports Unlimited stage a unique sports event dubbed “iron cross” in the Traverse City, Michigan. The event is organized by Radical Sports Unlimited CEO Homer Simpson. The CEO for Radical Sports Unlimited is intrigued to stage the unique event that will bring nothing but joy and opportunities for the entire city. Being the executive officer for RSU, Simpson has managed to come up with contests that comprise of various categories of extreme sports. In the past, Simpson has staged other extreme sports events including skydiving competitions, snowmobile races, and mountain bike events.
